ORGANIC WOOL:
A miracle fiber
________________________
Wool is a natural, renewable and durable fiber. When you choose organic wool, you are also supporting more sustainable farming practices. Organic sheep represent almost 1% of all the 1.1 billion sheep in the world. Organic wool’s breathability and moisture management properties offer an ideal micro-climate within the bed, leading to ease of falling asleep, enhancing deep sleep and sleep efficiency.

ORGANIC WOOL:
Locally Sourced & Carded In-House
________________________
Our organic wool comes from local sheep living in the mountainous regions of Slovenia, near our design studio. The sheep are raised organically, and produce the highest quality wool, perfect for bedding.
The organic wool arrives to us perfectly clean and uncarded. It isn’t processed with any harsh chemicals, because we like our wool nice and soft! Before making our organic wool into organic pillows, duvets and mattress toppers, we card it in-house. This untangles it, and makes it into a wonderfully soft, fluffy, continuous web of pure goodness.

ORGANIC WOOL:
Insulates & Regulates
________________________
Organic Wool is a natural, breathable insulator, that helps keep you warm in winter, and helps regulate heat in the summer. Indeed, organic wool is breathable, and pulls excess heat and moisture from your skin while you sleep. Because of organic wool’s unique composition, it creates a “micro-climate” which protects your body from heat & body moisture stress.
Organic Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight without feeling damp. Wool naturally repels moisture and lets moisture pass through it’s fibres without holding it in. Considering that our bodies release at least 300ml (around 16oz.) of body vapour per night while we sleep, it is important to have good bedding materials to keep us comfortable and dry. Organic wool is a healthier and more ethical alternative to down and feathers.

ORGANIC WOOL:
Hypoallergenic & Antibacterial
________________________
Because of organic wool’s resistance to dustmites, mould, moisture and bacteria, organic wool is extremely hypoallergenic. Indeed, organic wool creates a very dry “micro-climate”, which makes it very difficult for allergens and bacteria to develop. Organic wool also contains a natural protein called lanolin, that participates in repeling parasites.
Organic wool stays much more healthy and hygienic than synthetic materials, and even down and feathers, as these materials create a very inviting environment to bacteria and dustmites, even after a short period of use.

ORGANIC WOOL:
Ethical & Cruelty Free
________________________
At The House of Pillows, we’re only interested in using cozy, eco-friendly, ethical, healthy, and cruelty-free materials. And that’s why we use local organic farmers wool.
We source our organic wool from small, local farms, located near our Design Studio. The sheep raised on the farms, are cared for in a very humane way, and live healthy long lives! They are raised solely for their wool and for grazing the land, and not for the meat industry, making the wool cruelty-free!
We regularly visit the farms we work with, to control that their processes and standards remain high, and withhold the values we want to maintain.
